London March 23rd 84.

My dear Lady Thompson,
again I have been prevented to come to you although I had fixed the Thursday for you. But this time the cause for not coming was my health – I have been very ill with feber, and was lying the whole week. I |2| played yesterday, but only, as I did not like to interfere Ms Chappell. For to-morrow I must give up my playing and must reste a week. I hope very much to be able to come on Thursday next to you for a little |3| rehearsal. I shall write you once more and ask, if I find you at that afternoon.
Take my kindest Love dear Lady Thompson, and believe me yours ever sincerely
Clara Schumann.
